Dinner Time at Kings Arms

The Restaurant
Outside
The Pub
The Kings Arms in situated in Pentyrch, a lovely village about a 20 minute drive outside of Cardiff. (Sister pub to the Bunch Of Grapes in Pontypridd, Wales) From the outside the place looks just like you average village pub, which half of it is, but go around the side and and there is a beautiful dining area serving pub grub with a gourmet twist. Along with the pub area you see above and the dining area the place also has a 'snug', a tiny little room with a bar which is always full of people creating a grey atmoshphere. The whole pub is decked out with flagstone floors and oak furniture, creating a homely feel.

The menu at Kings Arms changes with the seasons , so you never know what you're going to get, which is part of the attraction of the place. The menu also boasts locally sourced Welsh produce, a great addition to an already classic Welsh atmosphere. They also serve local ales, specifically Otley ales, famous to this part of Wales.

My Dinner
I have no pictures because I was simply too excited to eat, so you are going to have to trust me when I say that the food was presented beautifully and looked very elegant even if it was just fish and chips!
-I started with a chorizo scotch egg which was amazing, Id never tried anything like it before but I would definitely eat it again, the breadcrumbs were crispy and light, the chorizo was spicy and the egg was so beautifully cooked and runny, just how I like it.
-For my main I went for the Kings highly recommended fish and chips, it was one of the best fish and chips I had crispy batter, skin on chips, homemade tartar sauce and the best pureed peas!
-I think I made a poor choice when I picked my dessert, I had a lemon posset served with shortbread. The posset was nice but not the best, however the shortbreads were really very nice and especially crumbly. This is not to say that the Kings did not do good dessert, my mum had a chocolate brownie with cream and that was delicious.

Overall the whole place was a delight to visit, the food was great and the atmosphere was homely and comforting, the staff were friendly and very helpful, I highly recommend this place for everyone whether you're a foodie or not, if your into gourmet food or simple pub grub. Ruby x
