Doughnut Day

If you live in the UK at the moment you will know that this time of year is full of doom and gloom, we all go back to work or uni after christmas, the weather is s*#t and everything just seems depressing. Well I have the answer to those really depressing days...doughnuts! These mini pieces of deep fried delights are sure to put a smile on your face. These doughnuts are also known as Churros, they are light and fluffy but crispy on the outside and especially when you dip them in chocolate sauce, they are truly scrumptious! They are relatively easy to make too, if not a bit messy...I used Nigella's Recipe which despite the alarming 'intermediate' difficulty level were surprisingly easy to make (with a little bit of help!) Guaranteed mine look nothing like Nigella's, I went for a more 'rustic' look, but I have no doubt that they tasted just as good. If you don't have the time or can't be bothered to make the sauce, another variation is to use Nutella, simply microwave for 10-20 seconds for a thinner more dip-able sauce. I hope these doughnuts bring even the slightest bit of happiness to a truly gloomy time of year! Ruby x
