My Week in...Chicago

This summer I have completely neglected my blog...I'm sorry! Ive been so busy and I now have so much to write about, I'll be sure to spend these autumny evenings updating you on my summer adventures. Back in July the family and I took a trip to 'The Windy City' of Chicago, we love city holidays and this was another to tick off our list. I must say that Chicago is one of the best cities I have ever visited, its so beautiful and incredibly cultural. The streets are lines with unique restaurants (and chains if you want them!) funky bars and clubs, but the main reason that I say that the city is so cultural is due to the sheer amount of museums and art industries. We visited them all! The Field Museum of Natural History, Art Institute of Chicago, The Shedd Aquarium and too many more to mention.

We picked the perfect time to visit the city, for the whole time we were there the Taste of Chicago food festival was in full swing. The festival boasts streets and streets of hundreds of food stalls, trucks and music. While we were there we took the chance to see the band AWOLNATION who were supported by Californian band Saints of Valory, an overall amazing concert that took place as the sun when down over the lake...amazing!

Chicago is a city full of cultural treats, food, music, art the list goes on. But the main attraction to Chicago is the lake, Lake Michigan is the second largest of Americas 5 great lakes but its so big, its hard to believe its not the sea, on a clear day you can just see a haze in the distance, thats a whole other state, Indiana! The lake makes for beautiful cool summers and gorgeous icy winters, this city is a hit all year round! If you ever get the chance to visit...do it! Ruby x

p.s If you do take the trip be sure to check out Kim & Carlo's Chicago Style hot dogs, they claim to be the best in Chicago and i would definitely give them the honor!
